Luella went camping for the first time last weekend, but she wasn't too thrilled by any of it. After near-choke experiences with rocks, I put her in pack n' play jail. She cried--nearly all night--and then she froze and ended up getting a bad cold to which she is still fighting today.
BUT--we still had fun hiking around and hanging out with the Rovig family.
I've never been camping in the desert. It was a different experience to feel extreme heat (we didn't even want to build a fire). But at night it cooled off a ton and was beautiful.
something to remember: Brett enjoyed a little neck massage via Luella before our hike--looks like we'll have to duke it out to see who gets to carry her in the backpack from now on.

THE WEEKEND HIGHLIGHT WAS THE BUS.
For one of our Memorial Day outings we explored a nearby lake and campground. (Technically the lake was a dam, but it was still beautiful.)
We had to cross the most freezing water (I have ever felt in my life and this is no exaggeration) in order to walk around the lake. It took me awhile to cross because my blood froze and then chipped in my calves, but the line of cars behind me got a good laugh watching.
At the end of the day we saw this awesome bus with a perfect sunset and dogs that have ponytails. And don't get me started on that rose . . . makes me want to spray paint my car.

EARTH DAY IS AROUND THE CORNER.
Our springtime doesn't necessarily entail green grass and fields of flowers. Instead, springtime for us means shoots of green cacti against heating red rocks and watching the lizards scurry across the path.
I feel blessed to have this in my backyard.
